To sustain

Love blossomed as they saw in the other what they didn't see in themselves
Maybe the other will complete me they think and dream of wedding bells

Over a period of time the initial love changed and monotony took its place
The glaring differences forced them to think of  sustenance through other ways

Love did not matter, after all they had common dreams to share each day
And they worked together to make these dreams come true someday

Meanwhile arose the question 'Which dream did each want to first pursue?'
She wanted the family to come first while he wanted the career to

Even at these times one priority was topmost, their relationship
And so they chose to compromise, did everything they could not to sink their ship

Slowly crept in external factors upsetting the poise of the couple
Aware of their responsibility to each other they stuck together without a scruple

And so they answered my question on how one makes a marriage sustain
Is it love that begins the relatioship or the shared dreams that they entertain?

Is it having common priorities or a virtue of commitment that they stick to?
What matters is that to sustain a relationship one has a lot of work to do.

One has a lot of work to do in sustaining anything. Wonder why we choose to quit somethings. I did, and so I wish I hadn't. Hugs da. Prabha.

There is sometimes as much effort to be put in to quit something as there is to not quit. Maybe it is time to work hard to quit the thought of wishing we had or had not done something in the past. Hugs girl. And good luck for a new beginning:)
