The boat

The water slowly closes over them
They struggle to make it to the surface
For a brief minute their heads break above the water
but not at the same time and they go back under alone
The nearness of death brings back memories
Memories of better times
A pang of guilt for hurt caused
Desperation to speak out the love one has for the other
But the pressure of the water above is unbearable
Slowly they give in to the sweetness of death
A pain rips apart their bodies much like how they ripped each other with harsh words
They both had kept adding too many things to the boat
Each wanted the boat to move their way and their luggage to be given more space
The boat could stand abuse no more and finally started leaking
The pride that they thought kept them afloat is what is pulling them down now
But the eyes, they speak the truth
They apologise and forgive at once before death makes them vacant
And then they float above having drifted apart forever
Th boat that brought them together now rests after tearing them apart
